Notes:Identification is provisional: the scan does not include the title page, but ESTC T5729 is the only 1714 edition of The Rape of the Lock with 52 pages. The shelf mark is the one noted by the ESTC for the only British Library holding attached to this bibliographic record.
The scan lacks the title page and preface. Google identifies this as the second edition, but the ornaments are those of the third edition. Likewise, p. 23, l. 8 reads 'unwieldly spread,' an error introduced in the third edition, but correct in the second.
